Fire safety

Fire detection and warning

Radio-interlinked sealed battery smoke alarms are installed in both the inner and outer halls, with a linked heat alarm in the lounge-kitchen area.
These comply with Scottish Fire Alarm Legislation 2022.
If one alarm is triggered, they should all sound at once.

Fire fighting equipment

There should be a fire blanket and an extinguisher in the inner hall, and fire extinguisher in the kitchen.
Please familiarise yourself with their location and operation.
Do not put yourself at risk tackling a large blaze by yourself.
Prioritise your own safety first.

Escape routes

Primary escape route is the front door.
Visitors are advised to leave the key in the front door if locking inside at night.
Keep all inner doors closed at night, to help hold back fire and smoke in the event of an incident
Please ensure the hallways remain clear of obstructive clutter at all times, so as not to impede safe exit.

Emergency lighting

There is 'NiteSafe' rechargeable night light located in the inner hallway plug socket.
This is motion sensor activated in darkness or dim light.
It also turns on automatically in the event of a power cut.
The light can be removed from its charging cradle and used as a torch.
